The Peoria Area Mountain Bike Patrol will be hosting a group ride on Sunday, July 27, at 1:00 pm at Farmdale. All skill levels are welcome to join in on this ride, including beginners and children. Please be sure that children joining in on this ride have adequate equipment, including helmets.
A cookout at The Kerr's house will follow the ride. Please bring a simple dish to pass. Also, bring swimming suits & towels for the kids--they may find themselves cooling off with a hose, slip & slide, or pool.
RSVP to the Bike Patrol Group Ride thread on the message board under "Group Rides," or email

Quad Cities Friends of Off Road Cycling member Brian Kingsbury suffered from heat stroke during the Jubilee Jam Race. Members of our club should be proud of their quick reaction to and professional handling of the situation to get medical attention to Brian and get him to the hospital ASAP. You all did a wonderful job. Below is a copy of a letter I received from Brian's parents thanking PAMBA and the PAMBP: Our son Brian was very fortunate that members of the Peoria Area Mountain Bike Patrol were on duty when he was overcome with a severe heat stroke. Your training and professional instinct helped save Brian's life. Your support, comfort, and concern for Brian during this time means so much. Terry Carter, Mike Staub, Carrie Kerr, Doug Morgan, Mike Howard, Tony Thaller, Bret and Kaleb Shirven took time out of their busy schedules to visit Brian in the hospital on Sunday and Monday evening. This meant so much to Brian and our family. We also want to thank other members of your club that helped in any other way. Many prayers were answered during this time, and we feel deeply blessed. Thanks to all of you for helping in this time of need. God's will let Brian live! Please accept this check ($100) as a small token of our appreciation and use the money as you see fit. Thanks again. Gary and Juanita Kingsbury |
