The Illinois Homegrown Race Series consists of nine races in nine different parks across the state of Illinois. Races include stops in Davenport, Moline, Peoria, East Peoria, Metamora, Bloomington-Normal, Chicago, Lake Shelbyville & Danville. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 race finishers in each category, and series awards to the top three category finishers in the complete series. All racers are eligible to win a raffle prize, regardless of finishing place!

Awards:

The top 3 racers in each age division will receive medals.

The top 3 men's expert and women's open racers will also receive cash prizes!

Series Awards:

The top 3 winners of each overall category will be awarded trophies at the season ending Farmdale Festival. Series racers need to compete in at least 6 of 9 races!

IL HOMEGROWN RACE SERIES

The Illinois Homegrown Race Series consists of nine XC races across nine different trail systems. Races include stops in Davenport, Moline, Peoria, East Peoria, Metamora, Bloomington-Normal, Chicago, Lake Shelbyville & Danville. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 race finishers in each age division, and a series award to the top three finishers in each category for the complete series. All racers are eligible to win raffle prizes, regardless of finishing place. NOTE: Some races might have other race classes or divisions that may not apply to the race series.


RACE CATEGORIES & AGE DIVISIONS:

Men’s categories are Expert, Sport, and Novice. Women’s categories are Open (combined Expert and Sport) and Novice. Men’s age divisions are Sport: 40 and over, Sport: 30-39, Sport: 20-29, Sport: 19 and under, Novice: 40 and over, Novice: 30-39, Novice: 20-29, Novice: 19 and under. Women’s divisions are Novice: 30 and over, Novice: 29 and under. Men’s expert and Women’s Open categories do not have age divisions.


1ST TIMERS/JUNIORS

This category is for the individuals that want to try out racing for the first time and kids that are more advanced trail riders who can complete a 2.5 to 5 mile course. Not available at every venue.

KIDS RACES:

Kids' races are for kids 12 and under and entry is free. Not available at every venue. Please check out each club's race page to see if the Kids' race is available.


RACE DISTANCES:

Expert: 20-30 miles
Sport/Women's Open: 14-20 miles
Novice: 7-10 miles

1st Timers/Juniors: 2.5-5 miles (When available)

Kids: .25 miles (When available)


RACE AWARDS AND PRIZES:

The top 3 finishers of each age division will win awards at each event. Men’s Expert and Women’s Open winners will receive a medal and a cash prize. Winners of all other age divisions will receive a medal. Merchandise from sponsors will be distributed by raffle, so no matter where you finish you have a chance to leave with a prize. Raffle entry is included with your race registration.


AWARDS PRESENTATION:

Series award winners wishing to claim their award are strongly encouraged to participate in the official awards ceremony for that race. Racers unable to attend the awards ceremony are responsible for making arrangements to receive their award by emailing the race coordinator for that event found on that clubs website.


SERIES AWARDS:

Racers will be required to finish at least 6 out of the 9 races. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category: Novice Men and Women, Sport Men, Expert Men, and Women’s Open. The series awards will be given out at the end-of-year Farmdale Festival after the final race.


SERIES SCORING:

A racer's best 6 finishes out of the 9 races will be used to calculate a series point total. Points are based on overall place within the category. The point scale is as follows:

ENTRY FEES:

Registration fees are determined by the hosting club, and may vary from race to race. The entry fee for series races hosted by PAMBA is $30 for on-line registration, and $35 for walk-in registration. On-line registration closes at noon on the Thursday before the race. Walk-in registration closes 15 minutes prior to the start of the race. Other non-series events, such as Downhill and MTX events, will have separate registration fees.


RACING RULES:

1. ANSI or Snell approved helmets are mandatory for all racers.

2. Racers may finish the race by riding, pushing, or carrying a bike that is mechanically impaired so long as all laps have been completed and no short-cutting of the course has occurred. Race events that are USA cycling sanctioned must use the USAC rules. Please visit the USAC website www.usacycling for rule details.

3. Racers must ride with courtesy at all times and allow faster riders to pass when trail space allows.

4. Un-sportsman like conduct will not be tolerated, and may result in the issuance of a DNF by a race official.

5. Falsification of registration information will result in the issuance of a DNF.

6. Race/rider protests may be filed with a race official within 20 minutes of completing the race.

The event organizers reserve the right to add/delete or combine classes or age groups depending on turnout. The event organizers also reserve the right to modify course layout or cancel events depending on course conditions.
